Holocene is continually updating our equipment to provide the most powerful and environmentally friendly drilling rigs. We recently added a third Diedrich D-70 track rig to the mix. The D-70 is 20% more powerful than our standard D-50 track rigs all while reducing emissions. We also operate vac trucks for pre-drilling hole clearing, dewatering equipment and most recently have greatly expanded our direct push and remediation injection capabilities. Our fleet is well-maintained and ready for work at all times. Our full-service maintenance facility is equipped to provide in-house custom fabrication and modifications to our equipment if needed. Prior to job site deployment, each drill undergoes a careful mechanical and safety inspection. Additional information is available.

Hollow Stem Auger

Hollow stem auger is one of the most effective and efficient drilling and soil sampling methods where bedrock is deep as in the Pacific Northwest. It can easily drill in glacial till, silt, clay and sandy soils. Soil sampling is done by lowering split spoon samplers on drill rods through the open center part of […]

Mud Rotary

Mud rotary drilling is an open hole, fluid based recirculatory method of drilling.  The bore hole is advanced in rock and/or sediments by rapid rotation of a drill bit mounted at the end of drill rods.  NSF approved drilling fluid circulates in the bore-hole as it pumps down through the rod string, where it picks up […]

Sonic Drilling

A sonic drill works by sending high frequency vibrations down the drill string to the drill bit face. The rig operator controls the frequencies, generally between 50 and 150 hertz to suit the specific conditions of the soil/rock geology. Formational resonance magnifies the vibration force at the drill bit, which liquefies soil particles allowing fast and easy penetration […]

Direct Push/Remediation Injections

Direct Push Drilling allows a wide variety of tooling and instrumentation to be advanced into a subsurface using the static weight of the rig, hydraulic down pressure and rapid hydraulic hammering. Compared to conventional drilling, direct push drilling is less labor intensive with quicker setup time and generates less investigation derived wastes (IDW). Direct push […]

Vac Truck

Pre-Drill Utility Clearance  Holocene provides vacuum truck and air knife services to expose buried utilities prior to drilling. Air knifing utilizes high-velocity air to penetrate, expand and break up soil up to 8 ft. deep. The soil is then removed using a powerful vacuum and placed in 55 gallon drums. The majority of subsurface investigations occur […]

Well Decommissioning

Holocene performs complete well decommissioning (well abandonment) services. We decommission monitoring wells, instrumentation wells, dewatering wells and domestic water wells.  Steel or PVC water wells up to 16” in diameter and hundreds of feet deep can be perforated and grouted in place. PVC monitoring wells of any diameter can be chipped in place or grouted […]

Rock Coring

Rock coring collects bedrock cores for engineering and geological data.  A diamond bit attached to a core barrel is lowered into the hole on the end of drill rods.  Rock core samples are obtained by removing the inner barrel assembly from the core barrel of the drill rod using an overshot retriever.  Rock cuttings are […]

Dewatering

HydroJetting  Groundwater flows can greatly impede construction site progress. Construction Dewatering lowers the groundwater table so excavations can proceed unimpeded by those flows. A properly designed and installed dewatering program can control groundwater flows keeping a project on schedule. Wellpoint dewatering involves jet drilling and manifolding a series of small diameter wellpoints ranging from 1.5”-3” […]

Dewatering Pumps

Holocene owns and operates a variety of vacuum dewatering pumps. Each pump undergoes a rigorous maintenance program to insure the highest level of dependability before it is delivered to the jobsite. Once in operation, our field crews ensure continuous operation and pump performance by conducting regular field maintenance, including lubrication and equipment inspections. Dewatering pump […]

Down Hole Camera

Holocene Drilling operates down-hole camera video service with the R-Cam 1000 XLT. It  is a portable, dual view borehole camera system with either a downhole or 360 degree side view profile. The system works for 3” to 12” diameter wells and is equipped with a lighting system, 9’ LCD color video monitor/recorder and a potable […]
